What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant failed to pay rent from June 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective September 2, 2021. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 28, 2022, unless the Tenant pays $5,309.60 to void the eviction order. The Tenant must pay $2,639.34 for rent arrears and compensation up to January 17, 2022, plus $60.86 per day starting January 18, 2022, until they vacate the unit. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay or move out by January 28, 2022, the Landlord may file for eviction enforcement.
