What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to significant rent arrears. The Tenant, who had been on extended leave from work for six months, requested a payment plan or a delay in eviction. The Landlord opposed the payment plan, noting previous failed arrangements. The LTB found the Tenant's employment situation too uncertain to support a payment plan but granted a short delay in eviction.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective May 31, 2025, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $8,142.25 by April 30, 2025, or $9,679.75 by May 31, 2025. If the Tenant does not void the order, he must vacate by May 31, 2025, and pay the Landlord $5,095.50 plus daily compensation of $50.55 until he moves out.
