What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Tenants did not pay the total rent they were required to pay for the period from August 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021, and the arrears owing to September 30, 2021 were $2,342.98. The Tenants vacated the rental unit on September 30, 2021, and were in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed. The Tenants have made no payments since the application was filed.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of September 30, 2020, the date the Tenants gave vacant possession of the rental unit to the Landlord. The Tenants shall pay the Landlord $2,342.98 in rent arrears and $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owing by December 4, 2021, they will start to owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
