What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant had already vacated the rental unit on April 30, 2021, prior to the hearing date. The Landlord sought to recover unpaid rent for March and April 2021.

The ruling

The Landlord and Tenant Board ordered the Tenant to pay $1,156.82 for rent arrears and compensation up to April 30, 2021, plus $186.00 for the application filing fee, totaling $1,342.82. The tenancy was terminated as of April 30, 2021, when the Tenant vacated the unit. If payment is not made by January 18, 2022, interest will start accruing at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
