What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after serving a valid Notice to End Tenancy Early for Non-payment of Rent (N4 Notice), which the Tenant did not void by paying the arrears. The Tenant was still in possession of the rental unit on the hearing date.
The ruling
The tenancy will be terminated on June 6, 2023 unless the Tenant pays $3,286 to void the order and continue the tenancy, or $487.49 if the tenancy is terminated. The Tenant must also pay daily compensation of $34.68 for continued occupation after the hearing date. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by June 18, 2023, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
