What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant causing undue damage to the rental unit and residential complex. The Landlord also applied for an order requiring the Tenant to compensate the Landlord for the damage.

The ruling

The Board found that the Tenant has wilfully or negligently caused undue damage to the rental unit and residential complex. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $5,000 for the reasonable costs of repairing the damage and replacing the damaged property, as well as $186 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by February 25, 2022, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
