What happened

The Landlord, a corporation, applied to evict the Tenants for non-payment of rent. The Tenants did not attend the hearing. However, the Landlord's representative noted that the Tenants had been making efforts to reduce the arrears. Consequently, the Landlord requested an extended 90-day period for the termination order to give the Tenants an opportunity to pay the outstanding amount and maintain their tenancy.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenants void the order by following a specific payment schedule. They must pay $2,711.00 by April 30, 2025, with increasing amounts due monthly until a final deadline of July 17, 2025. If the full amount is not paid by then, the Landlord can file the order with the Sheriff for eviction. This decision to postpone eviction was made to give the Tenants a fair opportunity to preserve their tenancy.
