What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to persistent late payment of rent. The Tenant was not present at the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated and the Tenant must vacate the unit by October 23, 2021. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $3,931.34, which represents compensation for use of the unit from February 1, 2021 to October 12, 2021, less any payments made and the rent deposit and interest owed. The Tenant must also pay $17.84 per day for compensation for use of the unit from October 13, 2021 until the Tenant moves out. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 23, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance starting October 24, 2021. If the unit is not vacated by October 23, 2021, the Landlord may file the order with the Sheriff for enforcement.
