What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants because the Tenants, another occupant of the rental unit or someone the Tenants permitted in the residential complex have substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord or another Tenant, and the Tenants have been persistently late in paying the Tenants' rent. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The Landlord's application to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to substantial interference with the Landlord's lawful right to payment of utility bills is granted. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $1,306.75, which includes $1,120.75 for unpaid water charges and the application filing fee. The tenancy is terminated and the Tenants must vacate the unit by August 30, 2024.
