What happened

Landlord applied for an order to require the Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on May 23, 2022 and did not pay the total rent they were required to pay for the period from February 24, 2022 to April 23, 2022.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective May 23, 2022. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $3,879.07, which includes rent arrears up to April 23, 2022 and the cost of the application, minus the interest owed on the rent deposit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by November 20, 2022, they will owe simple interest at 4% annually on the outstanding balance.
