What happened

The Landlord sought an order for the Tenant to vacate the property at 170 Essa Road, Barrie (Barr's Motel) immediately, as the property had been sold with a closing date of January 22, 2018, requiring vacant possession. The Tenant, who was the former motel operator, refused to vacate despite her employment being terminated and multiple notices to leave.

The ruling

The court ordered the Tenant to vacate the property immediately, no later than January 21, 2018. If the Tenant does not comply, the Landlord is entitled to enforce the order with the assistance of the Sheriff. The Tenant is prohibited from renting any rooms or spaces at the motel and from damaging or removing property. Costs of $4,000 were awarded against the Tenant.
