What happened

The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants had accumulated substantial arrears. During the hearing, Tenant 2 raised issues regarding electrical maintenance and vital services, claiming frequent power outages. However, the Tenants failed to disclose these issues to the Landlord prior to the hearing as required by procedural rules. The Tenants also expressed their intention to vacate the property.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective July 25, 2025. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $14,058.56 for rent arrears and the application fee. Additionally, the Tenants must pay daily compensation of $82.19 from March 25, 2025, until they vacate. To void the eviction and continue the tenancy, the Tenants must pay $24,586.00 by July 25, 2025.
