What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Landlord also claimed NSF cheque charges and related administration charges.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective May 31, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $1,800.55, which represents the rent arrears, compensation, NSF cheque charges, and administration charges, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenant must also pay the Landlord $175 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by January 26, 2021, the Tenant will owe interest at 3% annually on the outstanding balance.
