What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy because the rental unit had been sold and the purchaser required it for residential occupation. However, the purchase and sale agreement was subsequently forfeited. The Landlord requested to withdraw the application. The Tenant had already received statutory compensation from the Landlord and agreed to refund that amount since the eviction application was being dismissed.
The ruling
The Landlord's application for eviction was dismissed following the withdrawal of the request due to a failed property sale. The Tenant is ordered to refund the $1,998.75 compensation previously paid by the Landlord by September 8, 2025. No application fee was awarded to the Landlord.
