What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to the need for extensive renovations to the rental unit, including repairs, removal, replacement or upgrades to the heating and cooling systems, electric wiring/connections, walls, flooring, plumbing, fixtures, and appliances. The Landlord obtained the necessary building permit and provided notice to the Tenants.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective June 13, 2023. The Tenants must vacate the rental unit by this date. If the unit is not vacated by June 13, 2023, the Landlord may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office (Sheriff) for enforcement. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $4,151.01 for use of the unit from February 1, 2023 to May 18, 2023, and an additional $38.79 per day from May 19, 2023 until the Tenants move out.
