What happened

The landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the tenant due to the tenant's failure to meet a condition specified in a previous LTB order. The tenant was required to pay $1,388.26 towards rent arrears by April 16, 2023, but did not do so.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective May 30, 2023. The tenant must pay the landlord $9,468.48, which includes the remaining rent arrears from the previous order and daily compensation for use of the unit after the order was issued. If the tenant does not pay the full amount by May 30, 2023, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
