What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The stove in the rental unit stopped working on May 18, 2020 and the Landlords were notified on May 20, 2020. The Landlords made efforts to find a repair person but were unable to due to COVID-19 restrictions. A new stove was ordered but not delivered before the Tenant vacated the unit on July 3, 2020.
The ruling
The Tenant's application is dismissed. The Landlords acted reasonably in their response to the stove issue and did not breach their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act.
