What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant did not pay the rent owed from June 1, 2019 to January 31, 2021, and the Landlord served a valid Notice of Termination. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit but was non-responsive to the Landlord's attempts to resolve the arrears.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective February 22, 2021. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $14,191.55 in rent arrears and compensation, plus $32.15 per day starting February 12, 2021 until the Tenant vacates. The Tenant can void the eviction order by paying $14,948 on or before February 22, 2021.
