What happened

Tenants filed a T6 application alleging that the Landlord failed to maintain the rental unit in a good state of repair, including issues with the washer, dryer, bathroom sink, water pressure, oven, kitchen sink, and dishwasher.

The ruling

The Landlord failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act. The Tenant is awarded a rent abatement of $5,737.50 for the 17-month period from January 22, 2020 to June 19, 2021, as well as $740 for the reasonable expenses incurred by the Tenant to repair the kitchen stove oven and sink.
