What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Tenants were in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed but did not pay the total rent they were required to pay for September 2020. The Tenants returned the keys to the Landlord on October 30, 2020 without prior notice and gave vacant possession of the rental unit to the Landlord.
The ruling
The Tenants shall pay to the Landlord $6,175.00, which represents the amount of rent owing up to November 30, 2020. The Tenants shall also pay to the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before May 12, 2021, the Tenants will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
