What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant did not receive the Notice of Hearing and did not have a reasonable opportunity to participate in the initial hearing. The Tenant has not paid the total rent of $4,800 for the period from February 1, 2021 to November 30, 2021. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective March 9, 2021 due to the rent arrears.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective December 31, 2021 unless the Tenant pays the full arrears and additional costs by the specified deadlines to void the order and continue the tenancy. If the Tenant does not make the required payments, the Landlord may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office for enforcement of the eviction.
