What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to major repairs or renovations required in the rental unit. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 15, 2022. The Tenant must pay $17,154.57 to the Landlord for compensation of unit use from August 1, 2020 to January 4, 2022, less rent deposit and interest. Additional compensation of $34.88 per day is owed from January 5, 2022 until move-out. If not vacated by January 15, 2022, the Landlord may enforce eviction through the Sheriff.
