What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Tenants gave notice to terminate the tenancy on February 28, 2021 but did not give 60 days' notice as required. The Tenants moved out on February 25, 2021. The Landlord claimed rent for March 2021 and took reasonable steps to re-rent the unit but was unable to do so until August 2021 due to the pandemic.

The ruling

The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $1,635.20 in rent arrears and $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by February 4, 2022, they will start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
