What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from January 5, 2020 to August 31, 2020. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on August 31, 2020.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of August 31, 2020, the date the Tenant gave vacant possession of the rental unit to the Landlord. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $798.00 in rent arrears and $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by January 29, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
