What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants because the Landlord requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective March 5, 2022. The Tenants must vacate the rental unit by March 5, 2022 and pay the Landlord $20,619.86, which includes compensation for use of the unit from July 1, 2021 to February 22, 2022, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenants must also pay the Landlord $100.41 per day for compensation for use of the unit from February 23, 2022 until they vacate. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owed by March 5, 2022, they will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
