What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. Landlord also claimed NSF cheque charges and related administration charges. Tenant did not attend the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $23,566.00 by February 22, 2022. The Tenant must pay $22,671.67 for rent arrears and compensation up to February 11, 2022, plus $38.79 per day from February 12, 2022 until move-out. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the application filing cost. If not paid, interest will accrue at 2.00% annually from February 23, 2022. The Sheriff may enforce eviction from February 23, 2022 if the unit is not vacated.
