What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent and persistent late payment of rent. The Tenants had vacated the rental unit on July 31, 2020, prior to the hearing date.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective July 31, 2020, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay $3,418.82 in rent arrears and $190.00 in application filing costs to the Landlord, for a total of $3,608.82. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by March 29, 2021, they will start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
