What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from December 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on December 31, 2020.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated as of December 31, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $168.17, which represents the amount of rent owing up to December 31, 2020, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by December 11, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
