What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay outstanding rent. Tenant vacated the rental unit on September 10, 2021, but remained responsible for rent until the unit was re-rented. Tenant did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $1,221.71, which includes $1,020.71 for rent arrears (after deducting the last month's rent deposit and interest) and $201.00 for the application filing fee. If not paid by January 18, 2022, interest will start accruing at 2.00% annually from January 19, 2022.
