What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant has not paid the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from August 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective June 25, 2021. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $2,962.44, which represents the rent owing to June 14, 2021 and the Landlord's filing fee, less the rent deposit and interest owing on the deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $19.73 per day in compensation for the use of the unit from June 15, 2021 to the date the Tenant vacates the rental unit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by June 25, 2021, the Tenant will owe simple interest calculated from June 26, 2021 at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
