What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent as per the mediated settlement issued by the Board on February 3, 2020. The Tenants failed to pay the rent and arrears as specified in the settlement.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 22, 2020. The Tenants must pay the Landlord $4,279.34, which represents the rent owing up to August 11, 2020 and the costs related to the previous application, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenants must also pay the Landlord $26.15 per day for compensation for the use of the unit starting August 12, 2020 until the date they move out. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by August 22, 2020, they will start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
