What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on June 29, 2021, prior to the hearing date.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenant is terminated as of June 29, 2021, the date the Tenant gave vacant possession of the rental unit to the Landlord. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $1,479.17, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to June 29, 2021, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by October 8, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
