What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the Landlord's reasonable out-of-pocket costs the Landlord has incurred or will incur to repair or replace undue damage to property. The damage was caused wilfully or negligently by the Tenants, another occupant of the rental unit or someone the Tenants permitted in the residential complex.

The ruling

The Tenants shall pay the Landlord $13,718.20, which represents the reasonable costs of repairing the damage and replacing the damaged property. The Tenants shall also pay the Landlord $186.00 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $13,904.20. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by December 29, 2022, they will start to owe simple interest at 4.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
