What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant had not paid rent since May 2021, accumulating significant arrears. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective November 30, 2021. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective March 15, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $15,036.00 to the Landlord or Board in trust by that date. The Tenant must pay $12,296.95 in rent arrears and compensation, plus $186.00 for application costs. Daily compensation of $44.38 is owed for each day of occupation starting March 5, 2022. If full payment is not made by March 15, 2022, the Landlord may file for eviction enforcement.
