What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The application was based on a Work Order issued by the City of Toronto in October 2018.
The ruling
The Landlord shall pay the Tenant a rent abatement of $1,000.00 and $50.00 for the cost of filing the application. The total amount of $1,050.00 shall be set off from the arrears of rent that the Tenant owes to the Landlord. The Tenant's claim for damages to her personal property is denied.
