What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. Tenant had not paid rent since February 2022 and owed significant arrears. Tenant failed to attend the hearing on time, citing being in Jamaica and time difference as the reason.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenant voids the order by paying the full amount owing. The Tenant must pay $8,567.00 by September 30, 2022, or $9,682.00 by October 2, 2022, to void the order. If not paid, the Tenant must vacate by October 2, 2022, and pay $7,928.58 plus $36.23 per day from September 14, 2022, until move-out.
