What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant because the Landlords require possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation. The Tenant requested a review of the initial order, claiming he was not reasonably able to participate in the proceedings.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of August 31, 2020, and the Tenant must move out by November 30, 2021. The Tenant must pay the Landlords $8,901.06, which represents compensation for use of the unit from September 1, 2020 to October 4, 2021, less the rent deposit and interest owed. The Tenant must also pay $24.16 per day for compensation for use of the unit from October 5, 2021 to the move-out date. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by November 30, 2021, they will owe interest starting December 1, 2021.
