What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord collected or retained money illegally. The Tenant claimed the Landlord was illegally retaining a portion of her last month's rent deposit.
The ruling
The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant the remaining $850 of the last month's rent deposit, as well as $53 for the cost of filing the application. The total amount the Landlord owes the Tenant is $903. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by December 31, 2021, the Landlord will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
