What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations, substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit, and withheld or interfered with the supply of vital services. The issues raised included rodent infestation, insufficient heating, electrical issues, plumbing and drainage problems, and health and safety concerns.

The ruling

The Board found that the Landlord failed to comply with health and safety standards regarding the sewage backup incident, and ordered the Landlord to address the issue. No other remedies were awarded.
