What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Landlord had served valid N1 and N2 notices to increase the rent, but the Tenants argued the increases were not in accordance with Board guidelines. The Tenants had not filed an application to challenge the rent increases within the required time period.
The ruling
The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $4,821, which includes $4,631 in rent arrears and the $190 filing fee, by July 31, 2021. If the Tenants default on this payment, the entire balance will become due and payable, and interest will accrue at 2% annually.
