What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent, substantial interference, and persistent late payment of rent. The Tenants had vacated the rental unit in July 2021 prior to the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective July 31, 2021, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay $3,348.84 to the Landlord, which includes rent arrears up to the move-out date and the cost of filing the application, less the rent deposit. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by January 16, 2022, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
