What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent as per a previous order. The Tenant failed to pay rent arrears of $1,800 by May 15, 2021 and $1,321 rent by June 1, 2021 as required by the previous order.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective July 5, 2021. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $9,111.34, which includes rent arrears up to June 24, 2021 and costs from the previous application, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenant must also pay $43.43 per day in compensation for use of the unit starting June 25, 2021 until the Tenant vacates. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by July 5, 2021, the Tenant will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
