What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to persistent late payment of rent. The Tenant was late in paying rent for 7 out of 7 months from May 2021 to November 3, 2021. The Tenant informed the Landlord via email on December 29, 2021, that she would vacate the unit on or before January 31, 2022.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated as of January 31, 2022. The Tenant must vacate the rental unit by this date and pay the Landlord $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay by February 19, 2022, interest will start accruing. If the unit is not vacated by January 31, 2022, the Landlord may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office for eviction enforcement starting February 1, 2022.
