What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations or comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The parties agreed to resolve a portion of the application, with the Landlord treating the whole building for cockroaches by March 8, 2021 and the Tenant advising the Landlord by April 15, 2021 if the issue persists.

The ruling

The Landlord shall treat the rental unit and building for cockroaches by March 8, 2021. The Landlord shall treat for moths and mice as necessary when notified by the Tenant. The Tenant shall notify the Landlord by April 15, 2021 if the cockroach issue persists after the March 8 treatment. The Landlord shall hire a different pest control company to inspect if the March 8 treatment is not successful. The Tenant's request to deny the Landlord a rent increase in 2022 is denied.
