What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet the Landlord's maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards.

The ruling

The Tenant's application was partially successful. The Landlord was found to have breached his maintenance obligations by failing to investigate the paint issue, but the impact on the Tenant was minimal. A nominal rent abatement of $200 was ordered, along with $48 for the cost of filing the application.
