What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet the Landlord's maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The Tenant alleged issues with a wood plank on the deck, a window and window frames, attic insulation, yard, shed, and eaves troughs. The Tenant also alleged issues with the Landlord's painting work.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant a rent abatement of $178.20 by August 13, 2018. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by that date, the Landlord will owe interest at 3% annually on the outstanding balance.
