What happened
Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant, who was employed as a building superintendent, after Tenant's employment was terminated. Tenant challenged the application, arguing that section 93 of the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
The ruling
The Tenant's Charter challenge was dismissed, and the Landlord's application to terminate the tenancy was granted. The Tenant must vacate the rental unit by April 24, 2015 and pay the Landlord $2,817.85, which includes compensation for use of the unit and the application filing fee.
