What happened

The landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the tenants due to their failure to meet a condition specified in a previous order issued by the Board. The tenants failed to pay the monthly rent on or before January 1, 2022, instead paying it on January 7, 2022.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective March 1, 2022. The tenants must pay the landlord $60 for the remaining balance from the previous order and NSF cheque charges, as well as $36.62 per day for compensation for use of the unit starting March 1, 2022 until they move out. If the full amount is not paid by March 1, 2022, the tenants will start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
