What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owed. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from December 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed but moved out on January 31, 2020.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $16.43, which represents the amount of rent owing up to January 31, 2020 plus the cost of filing the application, less the last month's rent deposit. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by November 6, 2020, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
