What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to rent arrears and persistent late payment of rent. The Landlord withdrew the application regarding persistent late payment at the hearing.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective July 19, 2021. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $14,795.79, which includes rent arrears up to July 8, 2021 and the Landlord's filing fee, less the rent deposit and interest. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $29.59 per day in compensation for the use of the unit from July 9, 2021 until the date the Tenant vacates. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by July 19, 2021, he will owe simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
